This unique table is from the Meji-period. Traditionally it would be covered with a blanket in the winter or just a sheet in the summer, on top would be a urushi-tray. This one was converted into a livingroom table with a glasstop.

This very traditional japanese teatable is painted with jap. Urushi laquer which is made of a plant that comes from the poisoned ivey family. It prolongs the furnitures live and makes it water resistant. The colours are red over black.
